Township of Hamilton Kicks Off Local Government Week
The Township of Hamilton is proud to celebrate Local Government Week, alongside municipalities across Ontario. Running from October 13 to 19, 2025, this week is dedicated to celebrating the people, services, and programs that keep the township humming.
Local Government Week recognizes that from winter road clearing to park maintenance, from by-laws to community safety, municipal government plays a central role in day-to-day life. It provides an opportunity for residents to deepen their understanding of local services, engage with staff and council, and appreciate the collaborative work that underpins the Township of Hamilton.
Community Connect Day

Our highlight of the week is Community Connect Day, happening Friday, October 17, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Baltimore Recreation Centre (23 Community Centre Rd.).
This event promises something for residents of all ages:
- Informational booths hosted by Township departments and local organizations, including archives, paramedics, social services, and more.
- Elections Ontario on site - learn about the voting process and register to vote in the upcoming municipal election.
- Free public skate from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. hosted by the Township of Hamilton.
- “Touch-a-Truck” display featuring vehicles from Public Works, Fire Services, and Northumberland OPP.
- Meet & greet opportunities with Township Council and staff.
- Activities for kids and families, including button-making, EarlyON programming, Fire Safety House, Zoo-to-You, and a scavenger hunt. Plus check out the Baltimore Recreation Centre playground!
All events will take place rain or shine.
Explore & Engage: Scavenger Hunt & Department Spotlights
Throughout the week, residents can participate in a township-wide Scavenger Hunt. Participants can collect a clue sheet online or pick one up at the Township Office (8285 Majestic Hills Drive) and explore online or in person. Completed sheets are due by October 24, 2025 for a chance to win great Township swag!
Throughout the week, the Township will also spotlight each municipal department - from Development Services and Corporate Services to Finance, Fire & Emergency Services, Parks & Recreation, and Public Works - to highlight their roles, challenges, and contributions to the community.
Why It Matters
Local Government Week emphasizes transparency, connection, and community pride. It’s an invitation for residents to learn how Township decisions are made, meet their elected representatives and municipal staff, and build a stronger relationship between local government and the public it serves.
Residents are encouraged to check the Township’s website or contact the municipal office for full schedules, scavenger hunt sheets, and further details.
