The next municipal election in the Township of Hamilton takes place on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Township has declared a Significant Weather Event under Ontario Regulation 239/02 (Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways). During a Significant Weather Event, road and sidewalk conditions may deteriorate quickly, and winter maintenance operations may not meet minimum maintenance standards for the duration of the event.
Lakelands Public Health has issued a Cold Warning for Northumberland County, including the Township of Hamilton, due to extreme cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills.
The Township of Hamilton has a winter parking ban from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. – seven days a week including holidays.
As of November 1, the Township of Hamilton’s Winter Parking Hours are in effect. To support safe and efficient snow clearing, please remember: No vehicles, trailers, equipment, or materials may be parked or placed on Township roads or right-of-ways between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
We are pleased to advise that effective Friday, August 29, 2025, the Municipal Water Ban will be lifted. Normal water usage under By-Law 2004-28 may now resume.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Open Air Burn Ban Lifted – Effective August 27, 2025
Based on significant rainfall, cooler temperatures and more rain in the forecast the County-wide Open Air Burn Ban has been lifted in Northumberland County, effective immediately.
Due to ongoing dry conditions, a Water Ban on all outdoor use is being implemented for all Municipal water supply users, effective immediately.
Due to extremely dry conditions and deteriorating air quality caused by ongoing wildland fires across Ontario and Manitoba, a County-wide Open Air Burn Ban is being implemented in Northumberland County, including the Township of Hamilton, effective immediately.
As we move into a hot summer, we would like to remind everyone to please restrict your use of municipal drinking water for the essentials. We encourage you to consider ways to conserve water.
Environment Canada has issued a Special Air Quality Statement for Northumberland County due to wildfire smoke. Residents are encouraged to take precautions to protect their health and stay informed through the HKPR District Health Unit and Environment Canada’s alert services.
