Water Supply Master Plan Approved by Council

The Township of Hamilton is pleased to advise that the Water Supply Master Plan (WSMP) has been completed and received by Council on April 21, 2026.

The WSMP is a long-term planning document that evaluates the Township’s municipal water systems in Baltimore/Creighton Heights, Camborne, and the Buttersfield subdivision. The study examines current system performance and identifies strategies to meet existing and future water demands over the next 20 years.

Key Findings:

  • Existing systems are generally meeting current needs but will require upgrades to support future growth and long-term reliability.
  • Additional water supply capacity will be required in some service areas.
  • Infrastructure improvements to treatment, storage, and distribution systems will be needed over time.

What Happens Next?

The Township will move forward with more detailed investigations to support implementation of the plan, including:

  • Hydrogeological (groundwater) studies for the Baltimore/Creighton Heights drinking water system.
  • Environmental and engineering assessments (as required through future Class EA processes).
  • Continued monitoring of system performance and demand.

Where We Go From Here

The WSMP does not represent a single project, but rather a roadmap of potential solutions and phased improvements. The Township will continue to evaluate options to ensure safe, sustainable, and cost-effective water services for residents and businesses.

Public consultation will continue as specific projects are advanced. The Water Supply Master Plan and supporting materials are available for public review on the Township website at hamiltontownship.ca/water.
