Township of Hamilton Receives Provincial Funding to Strengthen Emergency Response
Camborne, Township of Hamilton – The Township of Hamilton is pleased to announce it has received $16,000 in funding through the Province of Ontario’s Community Emergency Preparedness Grant (CEPG) to enhance local emergency response capabilities.
This funding will support the purchase and outfitting of two mobile emergency trailers designed to improve the Township’s ability to respond quickly and effectively to road closures and traffic control needs during emergencies.
The trailers will be used in a range of situations, including severe weather events, highway closures, motor vehicle collisions, power outages, and other incidents requiring immediate detours. By centralizing equipment and enabling rapid deployment, the initiative will help protect emergency responders, maintain safe traffic flow, and improve overall public safety.
The Township extends its sincere thanks to the Province of Ontario and MPP David Piccini for this important investment in community safety and resilience.
“We’re grateful to the Province of Ontario for supporting Hamilton Township through the Community Emergency Preparedness Grant. This $16,000 investment will help us purchase and outfit a mobile emergency ‘Road Closed’ trailer so our staff can deploy road closure and traffic control equipment quickly and consistently during severe weather, road closures, and other incidents. With increasing emergencies and more frequent Highway 401 disruptions affecting our area, this project strengthens public safety, supports emergency responders, and improves our ability to keep routes clear for residents and emergency vehicles” said Mayor Scott Jibb.
The Community Emergency Preparedness Grant supports municipalities and local organizations across Ontario in enhancing emergency management through training, equipment, and infrastructure improvements.
