Township of Hamilton Flags Lowered in Honour of Former Reeve Lloyd Williams
Hamilton Township, ON (March 13, 2026) – The Township of Hamilton advises residents that flags at the Township Administration Office have been lowered to half‑staff for the weekend in honour of the passing of former Reeve Lloyd Ross Williams.
Mr. Williams passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at the age of 89. He served as Reeve of Hamilton Township from 1975 to 1980, providing steady leadership and thoughtful guidance during his term. His dedication to local governance and the residents of the Township left a lasting impact on the community.
“Lloyd Williams served our community with integrity, commitment, and a genuine care for the people of Hamilton Township,” said Mayor Scott Jibb. “His contributions to municipal leadership will be remembered with respect and gratitude. On behalf of Council and Township staff, we extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
In addition to his role as Reeve, Mr. Williams was actively involved in the Trinity United Church, Habitat for Humanity, and the Community Living Association, demonstrating a commitment to improving life for residents in Northumberland County and supporting his neighbours.
The Township of Hamilton Council and staff extend heartfelt condolences to Mr. Williams’ family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know him. Flags at the Township Administration Office will remain at half‑staff for the weekend as a mark of respect.
