Township of Hamilton Celebrates the Grand Reopening of the Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education Centre

This past Sunday, members of Council and Township staff were pleased to join the Northumberland Land Trust for the grand reopening of the Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education Centre, located at 8000 Telephone Road in the Township of Hamilton.

For generations, this special place has provided opportunities for local students and community members to learn, explore, and connect with nature. Following significant restoration work, the trails and natural spaces are once again ready to welcome visitors.

Councillor Mark Lovshin has seen firsthand the role it has played in the community over the years.

“I’ve had the privilege of watching generations of children and families enjoy this property, just as I did when I was young. The Laurie Lawson Outdoor Education Centre is more than trails and forests: it’s a place where students can learn, explore and develop a lasting appreciation for the natural world. Seeing it restored and welcoming a new generation is very special, and I’m proud to see the benefits it continues to bring to our community.” said Councillor Lovshin.

Council expressed their congratulations to the Northumberland Land Trust, volunteers, donors, and everyone who helped bring this important community resource back to life. We’re fortunate to have a place that supports outdoor education, conservation, and connection to nature right here in our community.
