Significant Weather Event in Effect - January 25, 2026

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Township of Hamilton, with significant snowfall, blowing snow, and reduced visibility expected.

As a result, the Township has declared a Significant Weather Event under Ontario Regulation 239/02 (Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways). During a Significant Weather Event, road and sidewalk conditions may deteriorate quickly, and winter maintenance operations may not meet minimum maintenance standards for the duration of the event.

Residents may experience snow-covered and icy roads, reduced visibility, and hazardous driving conditions, particularly on rural roads.

Township winter maintenance crews will be monitoring conditions and responding as weather permits. Residents are encouraged to avoid non-essential travel, allow extra time for necessary trips, and drive according to conditions.

As a reminder, residents can help support snow clearing efforts by keeping vehicles off the road where possible and clearing snow from around driveways and sidewalks after plows have passed.

The Significant Weather Event will remain in effect until conditions improve and maintenance standards can be restored. Updates will be provided as required.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring Environment Canada forecasts and warnings for the latest information.
