Township of Hamilton Official Plan Review  

Please Take Notice, that a statutory public meeting will be held to receive public input on the Township’s proposed Updated Official Plan (File Number: OPA 01/26), in accordance with Sections 17, 21 and 26 of the Planning Act, R.S.O., 1990. Interested parties can participate in the public meeting on:

Take Further Notice that the Council of the Township of Hamilton will be undertaking a comprehensive review and update of the Official Plan. The Official Plan Review will include a comprehensive review of the current policies and an update to the Plan to ensure compliance with the Ontario Provincial Planning Statement, the County of Northumberland Official Plan, and the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan as well as other policy statements.  The updated Official Plan will reflect the vision for the Municipality and contain policies and act as a framework to guide development within the Township over the long-term. 

The purpose of the meeting is to outline the workplan for the Official Plan update, providing Council and members of the public with an overview of work to be undertaken.  Over the upcoming months, additional information will become available and will be posted to the municipal website https://www.hamiltontownship.ca/.  As information becomes available, it will also be available for inspection at the Township of Hamilton Municipal Office, Planning Services Department office during regular business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm; Monday to Friday) and is also available on the municipal website  https://www.hamiltontownship.ca/

If you wish to be notified of the decision regarding the Township of Hamilton Updated Official Plan, you must make a written request to, Township of Hamilton, 8285 Majestic Hills Drive, P.O. Box 1060, Cobourg ON K9A 4W5.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of Hamilton Township to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Hamilton before the proposed Updated Official Plan is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Township of Hamilton before the proposed Updated Official Plan is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing or an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
