Message from the Mayor - Significant Weather Event

Dear Residents,

We hope this message finds you safe. As we continue to navigate the aftermath of the recent ice storm and ongoing winter weather, please know that your safety is our top priority. Our community is resilient, and the Township is here to support you.

The recent storm has left many of our residents without power, internet and cell reception. While some are fortunate to have generators providing temporary relief, many do not. We want to thank you those of you who have checked on your neighbours and extended an offer of help.

The following locations are open today from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for residents to fill water, charge devices, and warm up:

  • Baltimore Recreation Centre – 23 Community Centre Road
  • Bewdley Community Centre – 7060 Lake Street
  • Cold Springs Memorial Hall – 3151 County Road 18

The Township will continue to provide any available information regarding power restoration. For the most up-to-date information on power outages, please check Hydro One's outage map: Hydro One Outage Updates.

Our Road and Emergency crews are working to keep roads as safe and clear as possible, and we truly appreciate your patience during this ongoing effort. As of today, the following roads remain closed due to fallen tree debris or downed hydro wires:

  • Minife Road
  • Beaver Meadow Road

With the forecast calling for heavy winds, snow, and up to 20mm of rainfall between Wednesday and Thursday, our crews will continue to monitor and patrol Township roadways. For more details, you can read the Environment Canada Special Weather Statement.

Please remember these important safety tips from our Fire & Protective Emergency Services:

  • Generators should only be used in well-ventilated, outdoor areas to avoid the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Avoid overloading power cords when connecting generators to appliances.
  • Check in on neighbors, especially those who may need assistance with supplies or safety, until power is restored.

We are closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide timely updates on services and power restoration. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and cooperation as we work together to manage these challenging weather conditions.

Stay safe, and please reach out if you need assistance.
