Lakelands Public Health Issues Cold Warning - January 24–25, 2026

Lakelands Public Health has issued a Cold Warning for Northumberland County, including the Township of Hamilton, due to forecasted extreme cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills.

Environment and Climate Change Canada is predicting temperatures near -20°C, with wind chills as low as -30 to -35, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia, especially for vulnerable populations and those spending time outdoors.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions, limit outdoor exposure during the coldest periods, and check on neighbours who may need extra support.
