Grand Opening of Laurel Park Playground

For Immediate Release

Camborne, ON – On Friday, MPP David Piccini joined in with members of the Township of Hamilton’s Council, Paul Rosebush from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), and the public to celebrate the grand opening of the revitalized Laurel Park playground. MPP Piccini formally congratulated the Township of the work it’s done as a result of receiving a $30,000 Capital grant last fall from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation.

“Ontario is committed to keeping our green spaces alive in our community, but also suitable for everyone. Through this funding, the Laurel Park playground will create a safe and accessible place that families and children of all ages can enjoy,” said MPP David Piccini. “Ontario is dedicated to making our communities accessible and that can only happen with projects such as these being championed by municipalities.”

The new playground, an accessible recreational space for families and children of all ages is located at 21 Lorraine Avenue in the Township of Hamilton and features accessible surfacing, three slides, climbing equipment, and swing set including an accessible swing.

“The Laurel Park playground is a great example of how collaborative efforts can have meaningful benefits for our community,” said Mayor Scott Jibb, “We are proud to offer a space where children can play and learn while families enjoy quality time outdoors.” This initiative reflects the Township’s dedication to providing enriching experiences for community members, while fostering a sense of belonging.”

“Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like the Township of Hamilton deliver experiences that make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure that Laurel Park’s playground remains at the heart of the community for years to come."

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested more than $110M into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships.
