Cemeteries

The Township of Hamilton maintains the rich, historical significance of one active and four inactive cemeteries, open to the public daily from 8:00 a.m. until dusk. There are many private cemeteries in the villages, hamlets, and rural countryside of the Township.

Active Cemeteries Operated by the Township

7375 Bethel Grove Road, Camborne

Interment rights for the Bethel Grove Cemetery are not available for purchase by the general public at this time. Interments associated with historic interment rights are permitted with proof of documentation in accordance with the Act.

Any and all inquiries relating to Bethel Grove United Church Cemetery, including interment rights issues and burials, are to be directed to the Corporate Services Department. No individuals other than authorized Township staff are permitted to make arrangements or conduct business in relation to this cemetery.

Inactive Cemeteries Operated by the Township

5063 Main Street, Bewdley

Interment rights for the Bewdley Union Cemetery are no longer available for purchase. Interments associated with historic interment rights are permitted with proof of documentation in accordance with the Act.

Any and all inquiries relating to the Bewdley Union Cemetery, including interment rights issues and burials, are to be directed to the Corporate Services Department. No individuals other than authorized Township staff are permitted to make arrangements or conduct business in relation to this cemetery.

Township of Hamilton, Part Lot 6, Concession 8

This is a pioneer cemetery. The cemetery is closed. Interment rights for this cemetery are not available for purchase. Burials are not permitted.

The Bereavement Authority of Ontario's (BAO) Consumer Information Guide: A Guide to Death Care in Ontario is a guide written for families and the public to know their rights and responsibilities before entering into contracts with organizations that are licensed under the Funeral, Burial and Cremation Services Act, 2002.
