Zoning

The Township of Hamilton Zoning By-law regulates how land is used and developed across the municipality. It sets out specific requirements for each property, including permitted land uses, building types, lot sizes, setbacks, building heights, and parking standards.

Zoning helps guide growth in a way that supports community goals, protects natural features, and ensures compatibility between different types of land uses.

Finding Your Property's Zone

To find out the zoning of a specific property, refer to the Zoning By-law Maps or contact the Planning Department for assistance. If your intended use or development doesn’t meet current zoning requirements, you may need to apply for a Minor Variance or a Zoning By-law Amendment.

Please note: The Township of Hamilton does not provide property surveys. Property owners may contact a licensed surveyor or explore resources such as ONLand or Protect Your Boundaries.
