The Mayors’ Keep the County Clean Challenge
Each year since 1970, Earth Day has been celebrated globally on April 22nd. As environmental challenges and climate change continue to be experienced at both a local and global level, it is important to work together to take action towards a more sustainable future in order to preserve our local assets for generations to come.
From April 20 - 25, 2026 municipalities in Northumberland County participate in a week-long litter clean-up campaign in an effort to keep the County clean from litter from roadsides, parks, ditches, etc.

Registration is now open! Contact our Customer Service Assistant or call 905-342-2810 to sign up and arrange pick up of bags, gloves and safety vests.
