Below are common permits and licenses required by the Township of Hamilton.

Lottery License

The Township issues lottery licenses for raffles, 50/50 draws, bingos, and break-open (Nevada) tickets. If you're a registered charity and are looking for a unique way to fundraise, contact the Clerk's Department to register with the Township and learn more about lottery licensing in the Township. 

You can also visit the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for more information on lottery in Ontario and to download lottery license applications, reports, authorized vendor lists, and more.

Marriage License

The Township issues marriage licenses. For more information on how to obtain a marriage license and civil marriage solemnization services offered by the Township, please visit the Civil Marriage webpage.

Pool Permit

Requirements for a pool enclosure By-law permit:

  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Provide a copy of the plans including
    • site sketch showing location of proposed pool and fence, including dimensions and distance from property lines, septic tank/field and other buildings.

Refreshment Vehicle License

    • site sketch showing location of proposed refreshment vehicle including dimensions and distance from property lines, septic tank/field and other buildings
    • description and photographs of the proposed mobile canteen (including equipment)

Apply for a Pool, Sign or Site Alteration permit online!

The Township of Hamilton is pleased to now offer, residents, builders and permit applicants Cloudpermit – an online system to apply for and track your building permits.

The Cloudpermit permit system allows you to apply for and to see the status of your application anywhere, at any time. You can start an application and finish it later, and receive email updates on the status of your permit application. You can even request inspections!
