The Township of Hamilton aims to improve access and opportunities to people with varying abilities and enable their involvement in the prevention and removal of barriers so that residents and visitors may fully participate in life in the Township. Regulations within the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) help us build a more accessible community, and the Accessibility Advisory Committee assists Staff and Council plan for a barrier-free Township.

Accessibility plan

In November 2024, the Council of the Township of Hamilton approved the 2024-2029 Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. This plan describes the measures that the Township of Hamilton has taken in the past and measures those that the Township will undertake in the coming years to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to people with disabilities who use the facilities and services of the Township, including permanent residents, employees, tourists, and other visitors. The new Multi-Year Plan identifies proposed future initiatives to enhance accessibility in the Township of Hamilton in an effort to make the Township holistically accessible and inclusive.
