Queen Elizabeth II, longest reigning British Monarch, dies.

September 8, 2022

Hamilton Township – With family by her side, Queen Elizabeth II, died on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96.

“I wish to extend our sincerest condolences, on behalf of the Council, staff, and residents of the Township of Hamilton to the members of the Royal Family for the loss of Queen Elizabeth II. The world has lost an extraordinary woman who led by example throughout her entire 70-year reign”. – Mayor Bill Cane

As Canada’s head of state, all flags at municipal facilities will be at half-mast until further notice.

The Queen’s eldest son, Charles, automatically became King upon her death.
